Almond peach crisp
Instructions:
-
Peaches have a natural affinity for the flavor of almonds, and though this may seem like regular peach crisp or peach cobbler, it isn't.
- 4 large ripe peaches, peeled and sliced;
- 1⁄2 cup tightly packed light or dark brown sugar;
- 1⁄2 cup all-purpose flour;
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon;
- 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg;
- 1⁄3 cup butter;
- 1⁄2 cup slivered or sliced almonds;
- Heavy cream (optional).
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- Butter a 9-inch-square pan or a 10-inch shallow porcelain quiche pan. Arrange peach slices in the pan. Combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in the butter until mixture is crumbly.
- Sprinkle mixture over the peaches in the pan. Top with the almonds.
- Bake 30 minutes, until topping is crisp. Serve warm with cream to pour over it, if desired.
