Beer Can Grilled Chicken
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional
- 1 whole chicken
- One 12- ounce can beer
Instructions:
We love to cook and experiment, and we especially love to cook outdoors, where food tastes best.
- Preheat the grill to medium- high.
- Combine the brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, celery seeds, and cayenne in a bowl; mix well.
- Rinse the chicken and pat dry. Apply the rub to the chicken, pressing down heavily to allow the seasonings to adhere. Sprinkle any remaining rub in the cavity of the chicken.
- Remove the tab on the beer can and make additional holes or slits in the top with a can opener. Place the full beer can into the cavity of the chicken. Arrange the chicken on the grill rack in an upright position, pulling the legs apart to form a tripod. Cover the grill and cook until done, 1 to 11⁄4 hours.
