Berry Dumplings
Instructions:
- 1 quart of your favorite berries
- 1 quart of water
- 1/2 stick of butter
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- Put the berries and water into a big pot and cook over medium heat until the berries are done.
- Stir in the sugar and butter.
- Mix 2 cups of self -rising flour and 6 tablespoons of shortening with a fork and add 2/3 cups of milk.
- Mix to form a dough.
- Drop by tablespoonfuls into the boiling berry mixture.
- After all of the dumplings have been dropped into the berries, cover the pot and reduce the he at to low and cook for another 8 to 10 minutes.
- Be sure the berry mixture is boiling and do not stir the dum plings or they will stick together.
