Black Mountain Buttermilk Pound Cake
Instructions:
- 2 sticks of butter
- 3 cups of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of lemon extract
- 1 teaspoon of almond extrac t
- 6 eggs, separated
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon so butter flavoring
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 cup of buttermilk
- Mix butter and sugar at medium speed.
- Add the egg yolks one at a time, mixing after ad ding each egg.
- Add the flavorings.
- Sift the flour, salt and baking soda together.
- Add the dry ingredients to the butter and egg mixture alternating with buttermilk beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry and fold into the mixture. Pour into a greased and floured 10 - inch tube pan.
- Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 min.
- Allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from pan
