Candlelight bars
Instructions:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup margarine
- 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 or 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 6 ounces (1 cup) chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Sift dry ingredients and set aside.
- Cream margarine and sugar.
- Beat in egg, vanilla extract and molasses.
- Mash bananas and add alternately with the sifted dry ingredients.
- Beat well, scraping side of bowl with spatula.
- Fold in nuts and chocolate chips.
- Spread batter in prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes, or until done.
- Cool on a rack for about 10 minutes.
- Cut into bars.
