Caramelized Onions
Instructions:
Sweet glazed onions are perfect with a holiday roast. 2 pounds small white onions 3 tablespoons butter or margarine 2 tablespoons sugar 1â„2 teaspoon salt
Makes 10 accompaniment servings. Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 35 minutes
- Peel onions, leaving a little bit of the root end attached to help onions hold their shape.
- In 12-inch skillet, combine onions and 3 cups water; heat to boiling over high heat. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until tender, 10 to 15 minutes. Drain well.
- In same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions, sugar, and salt; cook, shaking skillet occasionally, until onions have browned, about 15 minutes.
