Cinnamon Toast for One
Instructions:
You know how to make toast, of course, but with this
old-fashioned way you can watch it and control the heat.
Toast should have crunch; it’s best made with slightly
stale good bread—the kind you cut with a knife. White
bread, the soft, packaged kind, makes lousy toast—it
browns nicely but becomes soft almost immediately.
2 slices good bread
Butter
1/2 teaspoon sugar, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
MAKES: 1 serving
TIME: 5 minutes
- Heat a broiler or toaster oven. Toast the bread lightly on one side. Turn it over and spread liberally with butter, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Return to the broiler and toast until the butter, cinnamon, and sugar all melt together and the bread is nicely browned. Serve immediately.
