Fresh berry fool
Instructions:
-
The word fool is an old-fashioned term of endearment. This oldfashioned dessert favorite is a combination of fruit and cream. Fools are made with either fresh berries or cooked fruit.
- 2 cups fresh strawberries or raspberries;
- 1⁄4 to 1⁄3 cup powdered sugar;
- 1 cup heavy cream;
- 3 tablespoons fruit-flavored liqueur, or 1 teaspoon vanilla;
- Fresh berries for garnish.
- Pick over the berries; remove stems from strawberries and combine in a bowl with the sugar. Let stand 10 minutes. Whip the cream until stiff and flavor with the liqueur or vanilla. Fold into the berries and chill until ready to serve. Spoon into dessert dishes and garnish with an additional fresh berry.
