Golden Corn Bread
Instructions:
This slightly sweet batter can be baked into a tender square, muffins, or corn sticks. 1 cup all-purpose flour 3â„4 cup cornmeal 3 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon baking powder 3â„4 teaspoon salt 2â„3 cup milk 4 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted 1 large egg
Makes 9 servings. Prep: 10 minutes Bake: 20 minutes
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Grease 8-inch square baking pan.
- In medium bowl, with wire whisk, stir flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In small bowl, with fork, beat milk, melted butter, and egg until blended. Add egg mixture to flour mixture; stir just until flour is moistened (batter will be lumpy).
- Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake until golden and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 20 to 25 minutes. Cut corn bread into 9 squares; serve warm.
