Homemade Banana Pudding
Instructions:
- 3 1/2 tablespoons of all -purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 3 cups milk
- 3 eggs yolks, beaten
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 5 or 6 bananas, sliced
- Homemade Vanilla Wafers
- 3 egg whites, beaten until stiff
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Mix flour, sugar and salt in saucepan.
- Combine beaten egg yolks and milk. Stir to mix well.
- Add flour mixture and mix until well blended.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened.
- Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
- Place a layer of vanilla wafers in bottom of a large casserole dish.
- Add a later of sliced bananas over wafers.
- Top with the cooked custard mixture. Repeat layers as needed.
- Beat egg whites lightly and gradually add 1/4 cup sugar. Beat until stiff.
- Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Spread meringue over pudding.
- Bake at 425 degrees until golden brown.
