Homemade Chocolate Cake

- 2 cups of plain flour
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of butter
- 3/4 cup of cocoa
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of boi ling water
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla

- Frosting:
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
- 2 –1 ounce squares of chocolate
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 2 tablespoons of butter
Instructions:
Beat the sugar, eggs and butter together until creamy.Add the cocoa to 1 -cup of boiling water and mix well.
- Add cocoa mixture to sug ar mixture.
- Sift flour, soda, baking powder and salt together.
- Add to the sugar mixture alternating with the milk and vanilla, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
- Pour into well -greased and floured pans and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Frosting
- Melt the chocolate in a pan and remove from heat.
- Mix in the sugar and milk and bring to a full boil.
- Cook the chocolate mixtu re until it reaches the soft ball stage (when a small amount dropped into a glass of cold water forms a soft ball).
- Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla and butter.
- Spread on the cooled cake.
