Iced Tea Ade
Instructions:
- 6 orange pekoe tea bags
- ½ cup fresh lemon juice
- 2â„3 cup superfine sugar (or process granulated sugar in a blender until finely ground)
- Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
- Combine the tea bags with 1 quart water in a large pitcher. Let stand (in the sunlight, if you wish) until the tea is steeped, at least 2 and up to 8 hours. Remove the bags from the pitcher, squeezing the bags to release as much brewed tea as possible.
- Stir the lemon juice and sugar in a bowl to dissolve the sugar. Stir in 1 quart cold water.
- Stir into the brewed tea. (The tea-ade can be refrigerated for up to 5 days.) Serve over ice, garnished with a mint sprig, if desired.
