MARIO’S KICK-ASS BARBECUE SAUCE

This sauce works on almost anything, wherever you want a sweet spiked punch—eggs, chicken or other grilled meats, ham sandwiches, etc.
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 6 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 cups ketchup
- ¾ cup fresh orange juice
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon Tabasco or other hot sauce
Instructions:
- COMBINE all the ingredients in a large heavy saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from the heat and let cool. (The sauce will keep for at least a week tightly covered in the refrigerator.)
