New England nutmeg sauce
Instructions:
- 1 cup sugar;
- 1 tablespoon flour;
- 1 cup boiling water;
- 1 tablespoon butter;
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg.
- Mix sugar and flour. Add the boiling water and cook, stirring, until sauce bubbles and thickens. Add butter and simmer 5 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and stir in nutmeg. Serve hot.
