Number 5 bbq sauce
Instructions:
- ½ cup dark brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon chili powder
- ¾ tablespoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup Golden Eagle or Yellow Label syrup (see note)
- ½ cup cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1½ teaspoons white vinegar
- In a small bowl, mix all the dry ingredients. Place all the other ingredients in a large saucepan.
- Whisk in the dry mixture. Bring to a low boil, stirring constantly, then reduce the heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
- It is very important that you mix the cornstarch with all the dry ingredients before adding to the wet ingredients.
- If you add it later, it will not dissolve completely and you will have little white dots in your sauce.
- Note:
- If you can’t find Golden Eagle or Yellow Label syrup, substitute ½ cup light corn syrup and ¼ cup honey.
