  Ingredients:
  • 51⁄2 oz small round clams;
  • 2 tsp sofrito;
  • 1 cup canned white beans, drained;
  • 3⁄4 cup fish stock;
  • 2 tsp picada

How to make
Beans with clams
    Pick over the clams, discarding any that are damaged.
  • Put the clams in a large bowl and cover with salted water.
  • Let soak for 1 hour. This will help the clams to purge themselves of any sand.
  • Heat the sofrito in a large pan over medium heat.
  • Stir in the beans, followed by the fish stock.
  • Simmer the beans for 15 minutes.
  • Add the picada
  • Lift the clams out of the water, leaving any sand behind in the bowl, and add to the pan.
  • Cook for 3 minutes, until the clams open. Discard any clams that stay shut.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Serve in soup dishes.
