  Ingredients:
    • 1 Tbsp. celery seeds
    • 1-1/2 tsp. tumeric
    • 1/2 cup coarse salt
    • 1/2 tsp. white pepper
    • 16 cups thinly sliced cucumbers(unpeeled)
    • 2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    • 4 cups vinegar
    • 5 cups white sugar
    • , 8 cups sliced onions.

How to make
Bread and Butter Pickles
  • Combine cucumbers, salt and onions in bowl and cover with ice cucumbers. Let stand for 2 to 3 hours or until cucumbers are crips. Add more ice if needed. Drain well.
  • In large kettle combine vinegar, sugar, celery seeds, mustard seed, turmeric, white pepper.
  • Bring to a boil and boil about 10 minutes. Add cucumbers and oniond and bring to boil again.
  • Pour into sterilized jars and seal. Store in cool place. Leave one month before eating.
