Homemade Chocolate Cake Ingredients


  • 2 cups of plain flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of butter
  • 3/4 cup of cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of boi ling water
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla


How to make Homemade Chocolate Cake



  • Beat the sugar, eggs and butter together until creamy.
  • Add the cocoa to 1 -cup of boiling water and mix well.
  • Add cocoa mixture to sug ar mixture.
  • Sift flour, soda, baking powder and salt together.
  • Add to the sugar mixture alternating with the milk and vanilla, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  • Pour into well -greased and floured pans and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Frosting:
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 2 –1 ounce squares of chocolate
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Melt the chocolate in a pan and remove from heat.
  • Mix in the sugar and milk and bring to a full boil.
  • Cook the chocolate mixtu re until it reaches the soft ball stage (when a small amount dropped into a glass of cold water forms a soft ball).
  • Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla and butter.
  • Spread on the cooled cake.
