Rich custard filling
Instructions:
- 3 egg yolks;
- 2 tablespoons butter;
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch;
- 2 tablespoons sugar;
- 2 cups half-and-half or light cream;
- 1 teaspoon vanilla.
- In a heavy saucepan, combine the egg yolks, butter, cornstarch, sugar, and half-and-half.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium to low heat, whisking constantly; cook until thickened, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and cool, covered. Stir in the vanilla.
