Strawberry compote with aged balsamic vinegar and cracked pepper
Instructions:
- Bring the strawberries, sugar, and water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally and skimming off any foam that collects on the surface, until thickened to the consistency of jam, about 15 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and cool to room temperature. Stir in the vinegar and pepper. Pour into a clean glass jar with a tight-fitting lid and refrigerate for up to 1 month.
- What else works? You can replace the strawberries with raspberries, blackberries, or a combination of berries.
