Sugar Syrup
Instructions:
- Also called simple syrup, this is perfect for adding sweetness
to something without worrying about the sugar dissolving.
It comes in handy when making sorbets and
granitas and for sweetening iced drinks, including tea,
coffee, and cocktails.
Make this syrup in any quantity you need; the ratio—
equal parts water and sugar—is always the same.
- 2 cups sugar
- Combine the sugar and 2 cups water in a small pot; bring to a boil and cook until the sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Set aside and cool to room temperature. Use immediately or store in a clean container or jar, covered, in the fridge for up to 6 months
- Coffee Syrup.
- Use as you would any dessert sauce: Replace some or all of the water with strong coffee or espresso.
